When to replace the pad

If impressions become faint or uneven, test on spare suitable paper first and check that the stamp and pad are fitted correctly. A fresh compatible pad can help when the existing pad is depleted, but it will not fix a damaged mechanism, unsuitable card surface or layout problem.

Fitting the replacement

Follow the instructions supplied with your specific stamp for accessing and replacing its pad. Keep the stamp secure, avoid touching the inked surface and do not force the pad or locking mechanism. Check that the replacement sits correctly, then make several test impressions on spare suitable material before using it on finished cards. Contact us if the fitting method is unclear.

Changing colour and checking surfaces

Select the replacement colour you want. Ink from the previous pad may remain on the printing surface, so a new pad does not guarantee an immediate pure colour change. Check test impressions before using the stamp on customer cards.

A fresh standard pad does not make the stamp suitable for every surface. Glossy, laminated and matt-coated cards need advice on a compatible stamp and ink combination. Test drying and readability on the actual material before a full run.
