Office manager reviewing address stamp in London office

How to Design Address Stamps for UK Businesses Easily

A personalised address stamp helps you repeat your business details on envelopes, paperwork and suitable packaging. Start with the address you actually want customers to use, choose an impression area that keeps it readable, then check the personaliser before ordering.

Quick Summary

  • Use the correct return or correspondence address for the stamp's purpose.
  • All sizes below describe the printed impression, rather than the outer casing.
  • Check the complete preview; a separate manual proof is available on request.
  • PDF upload is not currently supported in the online personaliser. Contact us before ordering if you only have a PDF.

Step 1: Define your address and branding details

Write out your business name, building or unit number, street, town and postcode. Check spelling and numbers against your current records. A registered office and a returns address may be different: choose the address appropriate to the correspondence you are stamping.

Add a phone number, website or logo only if it serves the intended use. More information needs more space. For a logo alongside an address, see our logo-stamp buying guide and logo and address layout advice.

Step 2: Choose stamp style and customisation options

Measure the clear area on your envelope or document before choosing a stamp. These rectangular impression sizes offer progressively more room, but the amount of text that fits depends on line length, font, spacing and any logo. There is no single character allowance for every model.

Impression size Layout to consider Next step
38mm × 14mm A compact address with essential wording Compare compact address stamps
48mm × 18mm More room for longer wording or spacing Compare address-stamp options
58mm × 22mm A roomier layout where a smaller impression would crowd the text Check the stamp size guide

Standard self-inking ink is intended for suitable absorbent paper and card. Glossy, coated, plastic or fabric surfaces need a compatible stamp and ink combination; contact us before choosing. A colour logo file does not mean a standard stamp will reproduce every colour in that file.

Step 3: Create your address stamp design online

Open your chosen product and use the fields offered in its personaliser. Enter the wording carefully; do not assume the tool automatically verifies your address or postcode.

Where artwork upload is offered, use SVG, PNG or JPG/JPEG and check the visual. PDF upload is not currently supported in the online personaliser. If you only have a PDF, contact us before ordering. Read the artwork upload guide for preparation and file checks. A separate manual proof is available on request.

Step 4: Preview and verify your stamp layout

Check every address line, postcode, phone number and website. Look for clipped wording, crowded letters, uneven spacing and logo details that become too small. If the layout is crowded, simplify it or choose a larger impression area.

Screen size and zoom affect how large the preview appears. Use the stated millimetre dimensions to judge physical size; the preview is a layout check, not a test of ink on your chosen material. A correctly scaled paper printout can help you assess space, but cannot demonstrate the finished ink impression. Use our preview checklist before submitting.

Step 5: Order and receive your custom address stamp

Check the selected product, ink colour, package, quantity and delivery address. Extra ink pads supplied in a package are replacement pads. Keep your order details so you can identify the stamp when buying replacements through the ink-pad finder.

Our midday despatch cut-off is an aim rather than a guarantee: stock may need ordering in the next day. Production and despatch are separate from the carrier's delivery time. Check the current delivery policy and the services offered for your address. Tracking is added to the order on despatch.

When the stamp arrives, check the wording and test it on suitable scrap material. If you notice a mistake after ordering, contact us promptly rather than waiting for delivery. We provide free-of-charge replacements for missing orders and errors; contact us with your order details so we can investigate.

Choose your address stamp

Use the address-stamp buying guide to compare options, then follow our online ordering guide. If you need help with a long address, logo or unusual material, call 01695 769113 before ordering.
