Choose a stamp shape by comparing your design with the space where it will print. A wide address block often fits a rectangle; a compact logo may fit a square; a circular badge may suit a round impression. The best fit depends on the layout and impression size, rather than the shape alone.
Start with your design and available space
Write the exact wording you need and identify any logo or graphic. Measure the blank space on your document, card or tag. Keep existing text, folds and punched holes clear. There is no single margin or font-size rule that works for every layout.
Also check the surface. Standard self-inking ink is intended for absorbent paper and card. Glossy, coated, plastic, fabric and uneven materials need separate suitability advice; choosing a different shape alone will not solve an ink-compatibility problem.
Compare square, round and rectangular options
All measurements below refer to the impression size. The round measurement is its diameter. Follow the product links to check the current options, package and price.

Square and round stamps can contain text as well as a logo, provided the chosen layout fits clearly. Rectangular stamps are often convenient for straight lines of text, but do not automatically make a crowded design readable. If you need an oval or another format, ask about suitable options rather than assuming every design is available in every shape.

Check proportions at the intended size
View or print your design at the intended impression size. Check whether the smallest lettering can still be read and whether the important logo details remain distinct. If not, simplify the artwork, reduce the wording or consider a larger impression.
A wide logo placed within a circle may need to shrink to fit. A square or circular design may use the space more effectively in a matching shape. Some blank space can help readability; it is not automatically a design mistake.

- Choose a product offering the text or artwork options you need.
- Check the ink colour and what the selected package includes.
- Review the visual inside the personaliser before ordering.
Upload SVG, PNG or JPG/JPEG artwork in the online personaliser and check the preview before ordering. PDF upload is not currently supported in the online personaliser. If you only have a PDF, contact us before ordering.
A separate proof is available on request. You do not need to produce a physical sample impression before placing an online order. Common shape questions
What shape suits a business address?
A rectangle is often convenient for a multi-line address. Choose enough impression space for the wording, and check the finished layout rather than relying on a line count alone.
Can a round stamp contain several lines of text?
Yes, if the product supports the layout and the text fits legibly. The circular area narrows towards its top and bottom, so compare the actual visual with a rectangular alternative for longer wording.
How do I know what size I need?
Measure your available space in millimetres and compare it with the product’s impression size. Check the artwork at that size and leave enough clearance for your document layout.
Will I see my design before ordering?
The online personaliser shows a visual. A separate proof is available on request; contact us before ordering if you need help with the design.
Does a round stamp require different ink from a square stamp?
Shape alone does not determine the correct ink. Match ink and replacement pads to the exact stamp model and intended surface. Extra pads in a package are replacement pads, not a way to print multiple colours at once.
