Complete Guide to Rubber Stamp Design

A useful rubber stamp design starts with its job: repeat a logo, print contact details, mark a date or apply a short message. Choose the impression size and layout around that job, then check the artwork and the material you will stamp.

Choose the type of design

Design Typical use Check before ordering
Logo Branding paper, card and documents Logo detail at the chosen impression size.
Address or contact text Repeated contact details Spelling, phone numbers and readable line spacing.
Date or short message Routine record handling The exact model's date and text options.

Match the impression size to the layout

Example Impression size Layout to consider
4933 square logo stamp 25 × 25 mm A compact square logo or short design.
Trodat 4642 round logo stamp 42 mm diameter A circular logo or badge layout.
Imprint rectangular options 38 × 14 mm, 48 × 18 mm or 58 × 22 mm Text and wider layouts, depending on the design.

These dimensions describe the printed impression. Compare more models in the logo stamp buying guide. Line counts and character capacity depend on the selected product, font and layout.

Prepare clear artwork

Customers can upload SVG and PDF artwork, or PNG/JPG images. Use the clearest original file available. SVG can preserve scalable vector detail; a PDF can contain vector shapes or embedded images, so its extension alone does not establish quality. Check the design at the intended impression size and follow the artwork upload guide.

  • Use clear lettering and leave space between elements.
  • Simplify tiny taglines, crowded details, gradients and shadows for a conventional single-colour impression.
  • When preparing vector files, outlining fonts can help preserve lettering.
  • Ask for advice if the design has fine details. Suitability depends on the actual artwork, size, ink and surface; a universal font, stroke or DPI minimum cannot replace checking those together.

Check ink and surface together

Standard self-inking logo stamps are suited to suitable absorbent, uncoated paper and card. Glossy or coated packaging, fabric and other specialist materials may need a different ink or setup. Ask before choosing a stamp for those surfaces.

Preview and manual proof

You see a visual inside the personaliser while arranging the design. Check spelling, alignment, size and complete wording using the preview checklist. A separate manual proof is available on request.

Use the stamp within the relevant process

A stamp prints the wording or artwork selected. The printed impression does not itself authenticate a document or confer authority. If using a signature or certification layout, follow the recipient's procedure and obtain the necessary authorisation.

Price and delivery

Check the selected product and checkout total rather than using a general price band. Contact us before ordering if the job has a firm deadline.

Our midday despatch cut-off is an aim, rather than a guarantee; stock may need ordering in for the next day. Tracking is added to the order on despatch. Free tracked UK delivery is available on orders over £39.99. Check our delivery policy for current rates, transit estimates and remote-area restrictions. Missing orders and errors receive free-of-charge replacements.
