Why Design Your Own Custom Stamp: A Complete Guide

Design your own stamp when the wording or artwork needs to fit a specific task: a return address, business logo, name or repeated office message. Keep the layout focused on what you need to print. Personalisation gives you control of the supplied design, rather than a guarantee of performance on every surface.

What to decide before designing

  1. Purpose: decide whether the stamp prints branding, contact details or a short instruction.
  2. Material: identify the actual paper, card or specialist surface.
  3. Space: measure the intended impression area.
  4. Content: list the wording and artwork that must remain readable.
  5. Options: check the available mechanism, ink and package.

Keep the design repeatable

A stamp prints the design made for it. Fixed wording stays the same; an adjustable-date product allows its date element to change. If information such as a batch number changes frequently, leave space to add it separately or choose a model with the required adjustable function.

A logo or signature-image impression is not independent verification of a document. Restrict access to signature stamps and confirm the recipient’s requirements rather than assuming a stamped signature is acceptable for every document.

Choose the product around the layout

Shape Linked example When to consider it
Square 25 × 25mm square logo stamp A compact square mark.
Round 42mm round logo stamp A circular logo or badge.
Rectangle 58 × 22mm Imprint 13 logo stamp A wider horizontal design.

These dimensions describe the stamped impression. Confirmed Imprint rectangles also include 38 × 14mm and 48 × 18mm. Text capacity depends on the product, font and layout; compare the complete design at the intended impression size.

Use text and logo stamps when artwork and contact details must fit together. A small logo does not need a large block of extra wording; a detailed logo may need more space or a simplified version.

Suitable uses for your design

Use a name on suitable paper invitations, a return address on envelopes, a logo on uncoated labels or a department message on office forms. Keep the impression away from information that must remain readable. See business stamp examples for layout ideas.

Standard self-inking text and logo stamps are intended for suitable absorbent paper and uncoated matt card. Glossy or coated materials can prevent standard ink absorbing and may smudge. Ask before ordering for fabric, wood, plastic or other specialist materials so the stamp and ink can be checked for the application.

Prepare and review the artwork

Where the selected product offers artwork upload, use SVG, PNG or JPG/JPEG in the online personaliser. PDF upload is not currently supported in the online personaliser. If you only have a PDF, contact us before ordering. SVG supports scalable vector shapes but can include images. PNG and JPG are raster formats. Use the clearest original available and check the artwork at its intended impression size. Fine lettering, gradients and photographic shading may need simplifying for a conventional single-colour stamp.

Check spelling, numbers, alignment and fine detail in the personaliser visual. A separate manual proof is available on request; it is not automatically sent for every order. Read the artwork upload guide if you need file-preparation help. There is no universal character, font-size, stroke or DPI threshold for every stamp design.

A printed artwork mock-up helps assess size and layout; it does not test the supplied ink on the final material. Ask for advice before ordering for specialist surfaces.

Compare the live selected product price, available ink choices, included pads and delivery. Do not treat a conventional logo stamp as a formal seal or assume a signature-image stamp has universal legal equivalence to handwriting. The required approval or execution process depends on the document and recipient.

For help, call 01695 769113. Tell us the intended surface, available impression space and any deadline. We aim to despatch orders placed before midday (12pm) on the same day, but this is an aim rather than a guarantee; stock may need ordering in for the next day. Carrier transit time is separate.

Free tracked UK delivery is available on orders over £39.99. Tracking is added to the order on despatch. Remote UK zones B, C and D use Royal Mail Tracked 48. Check the delivery policy for rates, estimates and restrictions. Missing orders and errors receive free-of-charge replacements.

Frequently asked questions

Why personalise a stamp?

To print wording or artwork that matches your particular task, in a layout that fits the selected impression area.

Can I combine text with a logo?

Yes, on a product that supports the required text-and-logo layout. Check its impression dimensions and controls.

Do not assume so. Check the recipient’s required process and control access to the stamp. It reproduces an image rather than performing verification.
