A self-inking rubber stamp has an ink pad inside the stamp mechanism. It re-inks between impressions, making it a practical choice for repeating an address, business logo or short message on documents, envelopes and suitable paper or card.
When is a self-inking stamp useful?
Choose one when you regularly stamp the same information and want to work without a separate ink pad. Common uses include business paperwork, return addresses, loyalty cards and teacher feedback. For packaging, check the surface first: glossy, coated or non-absorbent materials may need a different ink and stamp arrangement.
Choose the impression size before ordering
The dimensions shown on our stamp listings describe the impression size. Match that area to the space available on your document or card, then check the design in the personaliser. Text capacity depends on the stamp size, font and layout; there is no single character limit that suits every stamp.
For a business design, start with our logo-stamp buying guide. For a postal address, see our address-stamp buying guide.
What can I personalise?
Depending on the product, you can add text, a logo or both. Upload SVG, PNG or JPG/JPEG artwork in the online personaliser and check the preview before ordering. PDF upload is not currently supported in the online personaliser. If you only have a PDF, contact us before ordering. A separate proof is available on request.
Does a self-inking stamp last forever?
No fixed number of impressions applies to every design or ink pad. Ink coverage, use, storage and the surface being stamped affect performance. When impressions become faint, check the compatible replacement pad for your exact model. An extra replacement pad does not turn a single-colour stamp into a multicolour stamp.
Use the ink pad finder to identify a suitable replacement, and follow the instructions for the stamp and pad.
Self-inking or a traditional hand stamp?
A self-inking stamp keeps its pad inside the mechanism for convenient repeated use. A traditional hand stamp uses a separate pad. Choose the stamp and ink together for the material you intend to mark; the handle style alone does not determine surface compatibility.
